Meet Ahmed - Green Valley Spices

Tell us a bit about your store:
At Green Valley Spices, our aim is to provide our customers with the highest quality of herbs, spices, teas, freshly roasted nuts and the best quality dried fruits. We pride ourselves on great customer service.

What is your position at Green Valley Spices and how big is your team?
My name is Ahmed and I am the manager/owner since 2013 when we opened in Royal Randwick. We have a great team of myself and four very friendly staff.

What is the most popular product in your store?
In our nut range we sell a lot of unsalted mixed roasted nuts as well as cashews, almonds and walnuts. In our spice range our chicken rubs are very popular. The favorites of our tea range would have to be the chai’s, French early grey and exotic green teas. All of our dried fruit range is amazing but you cant go past our jumbo medjool dates!

What is your favorite product and why?
My favorite nuts are the premium roasted unsalted mixed nuts because then I get to have a mixture of all the fresh nuts in store. My favorite spice is the herb and garlic seasoning, mainly because its so versatile and you can use it on anything from chicken to fish to roast potatoes.

What is the most unusual or funny request you have had from a customer?
We’ve had a few unusual and funny requests from customers. Customers will ask for 200 kilos of cashews instead of 200 grams and the other funny one is when people accidently ask for smoked salmon instead of smoked almonds!

When you’re not working, what do you like to do in your spare time?
When I'm not working I like to go out and explore new restaurants in sydney and try new foods. When im resting its either a Netflix or rugby league night.

What makes Royal Randwick Shopping Centre a great part of the community?
Royal Randwick Shopping Centre is not just a shopping center, it’s the heart of the community where locals and shop owners come together and develop friendship and trust.
