Meet Debra - Bonza Brats

Tell us a bit about your store:
Since 1987, Bonza Brats has provided parents with a selection of gorgeous, well made children’s clothing for babies to age 14 that last wash after wash. We are supporters of 'slow fashion' and believe we should buy less but invest in quality pieces that can be handed down or passed on to others. We also provide a range of unique qifts for those looking for something a little special.
What is your position at Bonza Brats and how long have you been working there for?
I am the owner of Bonza Brats which I purchased in 2016 from the original owners.
What is the most popular baby trend right now?
I'm seeing a lot of lovely fabrics from the past making a comeback such as delicate Pointelle. Gorgeous neutrals are also on trend but rather than just greys or creams, we're seeing very soft tones of stone and fawns which the modern mums love! And at last we are starting to see more and more Australian native flora and fauna being used in prints for clothing and accessories.

What brands do you carry?
We stock predominately premium Australian fashion labels that are ethically made in the best cottons and linens.  These include favourites such as Minti, Munster Kids, Paperwings and Seafolly for the older kids and Bebe, Nature Baby, Snuggle Hunny and Two Darlings for the little ones.
What is the best part about your job?
We love all the fantastic feedback we get from customers on a daily basis about our wonderful product range and our excellent service. We have customers going back multiple generations and to have them still make the effort to come to us all these years later buying for their grandkids is very gratifying. We're like the old fashion corner store - we love getting to know our customers and finding just the right items for their needs.

When you’re not working, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I love the coastal walk followed by a great coffee and often do that on weekends. I'm also a frequent visitor to Centennial Park and feel very grateful to have such an expanse of green space so close to home.
How long have you been opened in Royal Randwick Shopping Centre?
We opened towards the end of October 2019, having relocated from Bondi Junction after 15 years.  With our existing customers' needs in mind, we really wanted to find a new home that offered them all the convenient services that a busy mum needs, as well as easy parking, all  in a centralised location still within the Eastern Suburbs. Royal Randwick ticked all the boxes.
What makes Royal Randwick Shopping Centre a great part of the community?
It's a great example of a local shopping centre. It knows its customer and offers a great selection of products, services and events that meet their needs. It also makes the effort to support local charities and events which is something all local business should endeavour to do.
